Hi, I’m Kelly

Wife, Mother, Friend and Interior Design Geek!

Welcome!

From as far back as I can remember, I’ve been interested in interior design. The way the colours work together, the placement of accessories and art, hardwood or carpet, area rugs and furniture, and how to fit all of this into a space in an aesthetically pleasing yet functional way. In fact, if I am watching a movie or looking at a photo, my attention will often stray to the decor in the background instead of what I am supposed to be looking at!

Believe it or not, creating beauty and contentment in our environment is a basic human desire that has gone back as far as the Neolithic era, or 10,000 BC. It’s hard to imagine that attention was paid to decoration when the survival tasks of shelter and meals took up so much time, but it did.

I believe that our home should be our “safe place”. Life can be challenging and can downright hurt at times, and we need a space that soothes us emotionally, physically and spiritually. To me, this means that the interior of our home should be functional, but also pleasing to the eye, cosy and comfortable.

I also believe that our home should reflect who we are. It should be familiar and comforting, and should be a place where we can totally kick back and be ourselves surrounded by our favourite things. This, to me, is the very essence of the word home.

I have a diploma in interior design from the Interior Design Institute of Canada, and I also have advanced training in real estate staging and 3D rendering. I have also had a somewhat unique lifelong practicum. During the course of our marriage, my husband and I have moved some 20+ times; each time providing me with a brand new canvas to design and learn from!

I love the photo below. The bowl is a rather dull, green colour. But beside the beautiful peach and red-orange coloured flowers, it harmonizes beautifully. Did you see that coming? Neither did I. All it takes is some knowledge of colour to create really engaging decor. Join me to discover interior design ideas and skills to inspire you to design a home you will be comfortable with and proud of.

I thank you for visiting, and I hope you like what you see!
