teeny tiny tips

Hanging wall art can always be a bit tricky, because there is so much involved with placement and precision. And, ultimately there will always come a time when a picture will swing out of place and it ends up being one of those, “I have to fix that” problems, that never gets done.

Try taking a very small piece of double-sided tape (about an inch square) and stick it to the bottom right or left side of the back of the artwork and then press it to the wall where you want the picture to be. Many of the 3M double sided products work well, and they do not mar the wall when removed.

This is particularly useful when pictures of the same shape are placed close together or when doing a wall gallery when the overall aesthetic of the arrangement is almost more important than the pictures themselves.

Decorating rooms can be quite overwhelming, and sometimes it’s hard to know where to start. But, it doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, it can be quite simple, and it doesn’t necessarily mean you have to purchase new items or furnishings. Here’s how:

Pick or buy one item that you like for the room. It could be a piece of wall art, an area carpet, a piece of stained glass, a piece of furniture … anything really. Then build the room around it.

If the item has more than one colour in it (and honestly, this is the best type of item to choose, but make sure it has about 3 or 4 colours). Then build the room around it. Use the colours in in the item you chose in other areas of the room, such as cushions, candles and other accessories. Make sure you have some neutral items to for contrast, but using the same colours as in your core item will make the room gel and give it a theme.
